Alyson Hetzel
Dear Parker Bows, Allow me to introduce myself; I am Eric Hetzel, and I’m from Crowley, Louisiana. I have been an avid bow hunter for the past twenty years. However, last year was, by far, the best year I’ve ever had bow hunting. Last season, I was fortunate enough to kill the deer of a lifetime with my bow. I shot an incredible 170" main frame 8 pt. with a few kickers. As exciting as that was, I thought for sure that that would be the emotional pinnacle of the year, but, little did I know, it would soon be topped. On January 16, 2009, my 9 year old daughter, Alyson, went hunting with me on my lease in North Louisiana. We set up in a double bull tent blind earl y that morning and waited. While it was still dark, we began to hear deer moving nearby. As the sun began to rise, we could make out a few small yearlings and young does, but we couldn’t get a shot. After a number of close encounters, I began to doubt our chances, when, out of nowhere, walked a buck. I could hardly believe my eyes; he was about 12 yds. away, and Alyson's eyes were wide open; she couldn’t even talk. She waited for him to start feeding on acorns, and, just like a pro, she drew back her PARKER BUCKSHOT bow, paused a moment, then squeezed off a perfect 12 yd. shot. I was in shock when the 22 in. arrow landed just behind his shoulder. I was concerned about the penetration because she was pulling back 30 lbs.(the state minimum), but the placement was perfect. As he ran off, I heard him pile up at about 100 yds. We waited about 30 minutes and began tracking. Even though I could see the buck lying in the distance, I still let my excited daughter blood trail him; Alyson was like a blood hound, leading me straight to him. The deer was a 175 lb. seven point. I was fortunate enough to kill the biggest deer of my life last year, and, when I tell people, they express word s of congratulations. But, when I tell them my 9 year old daughter killed a 7pt with her bow, they simply cannot believe it. That season was the best year I've ever had in the woods, and it would not have been possible without Parker Bows. In addition, as a result of her incredible kill, Alyson has been named the Female Youth Hunter of the Year. Below, I have attached the email we were sent informing us of this honor. Thank you for the memory of a lifetime, Eric and Alyson Hetzel
