Question: What is string stretch?
Answer: Elongation or string stretch is the amount that a particular string material will lengthen when put under tension. There is always some initial settling of the string and cable after the bow is built. Most of that stretch will happened before you ever get a bow out of the box. The last bit of stretch happens in the first 50-100 shots. That's why you should wait until the bow has been shot some before making any final adjustments or settings.
Today's string and cable materials and more importantly the string making processes, are far better than in the past. Because of that, string stretch is not that much of an issue for most bowhunters.
Be aware that physically damaging any of the individual strands of the string or exposing the bow to excessive heat can cause a string to stretch even after it has "settled".
Question: What is tiller?
Answer: Tiller is a measurement taken to help determine if the limbs of a bow are in balance.
It is a little confusing to describe since each riser is different between models and often within the same model depending on the year of manufacture. Tiller is the distance between the string and the limb pocket.
Here's what Parker recommends....
Crank your limb bolts all the way in. Do NOT over tighten, just snug the limb bolts down.
Back each limb bolt out an exact and equal number of turns until you reach your desired peak weight. Your tiller adjustment is set.
